Sciamano Danzante

COD: SNG-23

On the Salento coast there is a natural cave called Grotta dei Cervi. Impressive prehistoric wall paintings can be found in this cave. And one of these wall paintings is the Shaman of Danzante. The doubt arises from the human appearance of the image which, however, has very little anthropomorphic: a tail can be seen that resembles a monkey or even a mythological figure.

Below two spirals can be seen, like two serpents moving sinuously upwards, intertwining to form almost a heart. It is not surprising that in this image a connection with the ancestral tarantism inherent in this land has been seen by many, so much so that today it is seen as the symbol of Salento.
